For middle school-aged children. wednesday [april 30] Yom HaShoah in Madison The Drew University’s Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study in Madison offers a Yom HaShoah commemoration with Holocaust survivors Ina and Jack Polak, the couple portrayed in the 2007 film "Steal a Pencil For Me," 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Drew University Baldwin Gymnasium. Shomrei Torah to dedicate a new mantle for a Torah originally used by the Jewish community of Zamberk, a town in the Pardubice region of the Czech Republic, 7:30 p.m. Survivor Charles Roman will speak and Naomi Miller will sing. Yom HaShoah in River Edge Temple Sholom in River Edge hosts the UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey’s community program, 7 p.m. Julius Berman, chair of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, is the keynote speaker. (201) 569-7900. Yom HaShoah in Pompton Lakes The Men’s Club of Cong. Beth Shalom in Pompton Lakes is hosting an interfaith program commemorating all the Holocaust dead. Ahavath Torah, East Hill Synagogue, Kehillat Kesher, Kol HaNeshamah, all of Englewood, and Temple Sinai of Bergen County in Woodcliff Lake host the Englewood Yom HaShoah commemoration at Ahavath Torah, 8 p.m. Shirah, the community chorus of the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly, will perform and author Martin Schiller will discuss his book "A Boy’s Journey Through the Holocaust." (201) 265-2272. sunday [may 4] Yom HaShoah in Teaneck A screening at the Jewish Center of Teaneck of "I Have Never Forgotten You—The Life and Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal," produced and written by Rabbi Marvin Hier and Richard Trank and narrated by Nicole Kidman, 10 a.m. Rabbi Ari Hier, the son of Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, will be there. Yom HaShoah in Ridgewood Joint interfaith service of Temple Israel & Jewish Community Center and the West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, 7:30 p.m., at the church.
