Mazal tov to Schenck Scholar Emily Dubon, left, pictured with JCC Thurnauer School of Music director Dorothy Kaplan Roffman. Emily, 13, an Englewood student, received her award at the Music Discovery Partnership’s spring concert on May 15. The partnership is a 13-year collaboration between the Englewood Public School District and the JCC Thurnauer School of Music in Tenafly. The Lillian Pitkin Schenck Fund, managed by PNC Bank, has supported the partnership for several years.

Mazal tov to Janet Suslak Indick of Teaneck who was among 14 alumni inducted into Hunter College’s Hall of Fame on May13. The award-winning sculptor has exhibited nationally and internationally and is a recipient of many awards. Many of her sculptures have Jewish themes and are on the grounds locally at the Jewish Center of Teaneck, Temple Beth Rishon in Wykoff, and the Yeshiva University Museum in Manhattan.

Mazal tov to the local students who were among the 124 graduates from The Jewish Theological Seminary on May 19 where 141 degrees were conferred. Simeon Lev Cohen of Hillsdale, Jennifer Lea Levinson of Upper Saddle River, and Adi Y. Segal of Bergenfield earned bachelor’s degrees from the Albert A. List College of Jewish Studies. Cohen and his family are members of the Jewish Community Center of Paramus; Levinson attends the Orangetown Jewish Center in Orangeburg, N.Y.; and Segal, Cong. Jacob Weiss
Jacob Weiss, son of Wendy and Lawrence Weiss of Haworth, became a bar mitzvah on May 21 at Temple Beth El of Northern Valley in Closter.
Alexa Zysman
Alexa Zysman, daughter of Donna and Warren Zysman and sister of Michael, became a bat mitzvah on May 28 at Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn. Her grandparents are Harriet and Lenny Zysman and Sandi Schwartz.
Sarah Singer
Sarah Singer, daughter of Robin and James Singer of Woodcliff Lake and sister of Daniel, became a bat mitzvah on May 21 at Temple Beth Or in Washington Township.
Eliana Sapin
Eliana Pearl Sapin, daughter of Joy and Marc Sapin of River Edge and sister of Ari, Jared, and Jacob, became a bat mitzvah on May 30 at the Jewish Community Center of Paramus. Her grandparents are Sonya and Gerry Sapin of Tuscon, Ariz., and the late Marcia and Jack Melnick of East Northport, N.Y.
