Maxwell Jacob Lipton

Matthew Jacob Lipton was born on July 15 in Englewood to Randi and Ari Lipton of West Orange. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and joins a brother, Sam, 3. Their grandparents are Sharyn and Allan Bauer of Hackensack, Isabel Gulden of Atlanta, Ga., and Maggie and Ed Lipton of Grand Junction, Colo. Maxwell Jacob was named for his maternal great-grandmother, Muriel Friedland, who was the office manager of The Jewish Standard for 11 years.

Mazal tov to Federico Tesico of Bergenfield, who is Employee of the Month for August at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh. Tesico joined JHR as a housekeeping employee in 2008 and now is environmental services project manager. The EOM program, to recognize outstanding employees, is made possible through an endowment established by Bill Lippman of Fort Lee, a member of the board at JHR, and Debbie and Stuart Himmelfarb of Tenafly, in memory of Bella and Martin Himmelfarb.

Mazal tov to Claire Proctor, seated, a four-year resident at the Jewish Home Assisted Living in River Vale, who celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at the facility. Her son-in-law Charles Klatskin, Jewish Home Family board member, and Alex Klatskin, her grandson, were also at the celebration. The event followed a family birthday party.

Mazal tov to Melissa Gotlib, daughter of Lisa and David Gotlib and granddaughter of Deborah and Jesse Rosenzweig, all of Fair Lawn, who recently cut and donated her hair to Locks of Love. The non-profit organization provides hairpieces to disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Gotlib also asked attendees who came to her May 14 bat mitzvah at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel to bring new hair accessories for her to donate along with her hair. She is a seventh-grader at Memorial Middle School in Fair Lawn.

Ophelia A. Yudkoff

Bonnie Pepper and Aaron Barkon are pictured at their daughter Samantha’s (Tziona Baila) Hebrew naming on July 22 at Temple Sinai of Bergen County in Tenafly. Her grandmother, Eileen Pepper, is the temple’s religious school music teacher. Bonnie Pepper and her three siblings had their b’nai mitzvah and confirmation cermonies at Temple Sinai.

Maya Meira Gerber was born on July 3 to Hilary and Howard Gerber, sharing a birthday with her mother.

She weighed eight pounds, three ounces, and was 21 inches long. Maya Meira joins her sisters Talia Nava, almost 5, and Eliana Liba, almost 3. Their grandparents are Shelley and Irv Gerber of Fair Lawn and Barbara and Norman Kleinberg of Kings Park, N.Y.

 
 

Brad Aretsky

Brad Aretsky, son of Jamie Loia of Franklin Lakes and Eric Aretsky of Franklin Lakes, stepson of Daniel Loia, and stepbrother of Adrienne, 33, and Dana, 29, became a bar mitzvah on June 11at Barnert Temple in Franklin Lakes.

Beth Sholom in Teaneck, who won first place in the non-professional oil category at the Bergen County Senior Juried Art Show that is on display at The Art Center of Northern New Jersey. He is pictured with Ruth Miller of the center, who presented him with the award. Belok studies with Jack Faragasso at the Art Students League of New York and has studied with John Howard Sanden and Nelson Shanks, world-renowned painters in the world of portrait painting.
