Edith Gordon
Edith Selma Gordon, 88, of Timonium, Md., formerly of Upper Saddle River and Paramus, died on May 16.
Predeceased by her husband, Eli, and a daughter, Ellen, she is survived by her children, Dr. Nancy J. Gordon (Dr. Paul H. Lipkin) of Lutherville, Md., Matthew (Karen Leander) of Collegeville, Pa.; a son-in-law, Sam Z. Mallin of Hillsdale; and grandchildren, Erica Gordon-Mallin, Mariel Gordon-Mallin (Dan Gold), Eliza, Jamie, and Seth Gordon-Lipkin, and Noah Gordon-Leander.
She was a substitute teacher for the Bergen County Vocational School District in Paramus and taught at the School of Business Machines in Hackensack. She was a life member of the Bergen County Players. Donations can be sent to American Heart Fund, American Cancer Society, or the Fresh Air Fund. Arrangements were by Louis Suburban Chapel, Fair Lawn.
Harold Blumberg
Harold Blumberg, 89, of West Milford, died on May 15.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mayrose; children, Barbara and Howard; a brother, Bertram (Ann); and grandchild, Amanda.
A graduate of Cooper Union, he was a structural engineer for 40 years and retired in 1986. He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran serving in the Europe. He volunteered for Heritage Museum and Learning Unlimited, both in West Milford, and was a Mensa member.

Susan Berman
Susan H. Berman, 73, of Clifton, formerly of Union City and Passaic, died on May 18 at home.
Born in Jersey City, she had a master’s degree in speech pathology. She was a speech and language pathologist for the Ringwood school system and also a teller at the Meadowlands Racetrack in Rutherford, both for over 30 years. She was a member of the Clifton Jewish Center, Hadassah, the Red Hats, and Caring Clowns all of Clifton.
Surviving are her daughter, Felise, of Clifton; two sons, Seth (Rita) of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., and Zachary (Carol) of Jericho, N.Y.; two brothers, Jerry Levin of Fort Lee and David Levin of Miami, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Harley, Jonah, Saige, Kendrick, Jerry, and Mia.
Arrangements were by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
Evelyn Baraz
Evelyn Baraz, 86, of Paterson, died on May 17.
Predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis, she is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry, and a son, Norman of Dallas, Texas.
Before retiring she was a sales associate at Stern’s Department Store in Paramus. She was a member of the Reuben Kaufman-Harris Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post # 36 of Paterson, Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills, and the Park East Terrace Tenants Association in Paterson.

Ida Skulsky
Ida Skulsky, 105, of Paramus, died April 25.
Before retiring, she was a teacher and reading supervisor in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
She is survived by a son, Harold (Betty) of Forest Hills, N.Y.; two daughters, Beatrice Galatin (Malcolm) of Tenafly, and Doris Stanley of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Hannah Shader of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren,.
Funeral services were held last Sunday. Arrangements were by Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel, Paramus.
Rabbi Zev Zahavy
Rabbi Zev Zahavy died on May 1.
The funeral was on Wednesday at Park East Synagogue, New York City; burial will be in Israel on Thursday at the Har HaMenuchot Cemetery in Jerusalem.
He served as rabbi of the West Side Institutional Synagogue, Congregation Ohad Zedek, and senior rabbi at Park East Synagogue. He was a professor at the City University of New York and an author.
Predeceased by his wife, Edith, he is survived by his daughter, Miryam Wahrman, science correspondent for this newspaper; two sons, Tzvee and Reuvain; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Shiva will be at the Zahavy home in Teaneck.
Arrangements were by Riverside Memorial Chapel.
Cynthia Singer
Cynthia Singer, née Hoenish, 89, of Cliffside Park, formerly of the Bronx, died April 28 at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
Born in New York City, before retiring she was a teacher there. She was a member of Hadassah.
Predeceased by her husband, George, in 1990, she is survived by two sons, Stuart of Cliffside Park and Mitchell of New York City.

Saul Rogers
Saul E. Rogers, 88, of Rockleigh, formerly of Tenafly, died
April 26.
Predeceased by a brother, Alexander, he is survived by his wife, Iris, née Bedrick; a son, Mark; a daughter, Nancy Eichenbaum (Richard); a sister, Miriam Kassel; and three grandchildren, Scott, Danielle, and Zachary.
He was the president of American Lace Mills and then Oak Street Realty in Hackensack. Active in many Jewish organizations, he was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El in Closter.
