Richard Friend
Richard Friend of Fort Lee, formerly of Clifton, died on Sept. 10.
He was a 1961 graduate of New York University and received a master’s degree from Montclair State University. A music teacher and bandleader in Dumont and Glen Ridge, he was a vice principal of Glen Ridge High School. He founded Intermedia, Stage Accents, and Splendid Blenders. He was a member of Cong. Ahavat Torah in Englewood, where he chaired and sponsored its Yom HaShoah program, and a member of Young Israel Congregation of Fort Lee and the Boca Raton Jewish Center in Boca Raton, Fla.
Predeceased by his sister Rosalind, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores, née Grap; a son, Douglas (and his wife, Marilin) of Boca Raton; a daughter, Deborah of Old Tappan; three brothers, Herbert (and his wife, Marjorie) of Somerset, and William and Gerald (and his wife, Frances), both of Clifton; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Ethan.
Donations can be sent to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York City, Valley Hospice in Paramus, or a Jewish charity of choice.

Max Cohen
Max Cohen died on Sept. 10 in Long Beach, N.Y.
Born in New York, he was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Before retiring, he was an insurance representative.
Predeceased by his wife, Hanna, he is survived by a granddaughter, Chana Cohen.
Arrangements were by Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, Hackensack.
Julius Wolfin
Julius Wolfin, 85, of Montvale, formerly of Middle Village, N.Y., died on Aug. 27.
Born in Brooklyn, he was a U.S. Army World War II veteran serving in Europe with the Eighth Armored Division. A former board member of Edgewood Country Club and the YM-YWHA of Hackensack, he was the president/CEO of Ferrum Industries and Textol Systems for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sydelle; two sons, Lawrence (and his wife, Helene) and Richard (and his wife, Susan); a daughter, Jayne Petak (and her husband, David); a brother, Nathan; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, Derek, Michael, Jacob, Samantha, and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews.

Beatrice Singer
Beatrice Singer, née Lindner, 90, of Glen Rock, formerly of Jersey City, died on Aug 27 at Hackensack Hospice.
Born in New York City, she was predeceased by her husband, Milton, and is survived by two sons, Laurence of Glen Rock and Dr. Andrew of Greensboro; and two grandchildren, Robert and Catherine.

Gladys Stein
Gladys M. Stein, née Miller, 79, of Fort Lee, formerly of Hartsdale, N.Y., died Aug. 28 at Hackensack Hospice.
Born in New York City, before retiring, she was an English teacher at Saunders Trade and Technical School in Yonkers, N.Y. She was named New York State Teacher of the Year in 1994 and was a member of Kaplen JCC on Palisades in Tenafly.
She is survived by her husband, Kalman; two daughters, Patti Stiles of Greensboro, N.C., and Melinda Taormina of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a son, Adam of Los Altos, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Bruno Borras
Bruno B. Borras, 47, of Clifton, formerly of New York City and San Diego, Calif., died on Aug. 29.
Predeceased by his father, Roland, he is survived by his wife, Sherry; a son, Michael; his mother, Michele of Reunion Island, France; a sister, Alexandra of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; stepfather, Jean-Yves Nourry; and in-laws, Carl and Mary Catherine Williams and Victoria Williams, all of Westchester, Pa.
He was a member of Bnai Keshet Synagogue in Montclair.

Rachel Schramm
Rachel Schramm, née Fleischmann, 81, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Teaneck, died on Aug. 28 at home.
Born in Germany, she was a freelance writer for newspapers and magazines and was a member of the Jewish Center of Teaneck.
Predeceased by her husband, Max, in 2004, she is survived by two daughters, Diana Holtzman and Janet Gelman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cecile Kessler
Cecile Kessler, of Fredon, died on Aug. 18.
Graveside services were at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus; arrangements were by Louis Suburban Chapel, Fair Lawn.
