Janice Kling
Janice Kling, 86, of New Hampshire, formerly of Maywood, Manchester, and New York City, died on Jan. 10 at Havenwood-Heritage Heights in Concord, N.H.
After finishing secretarial school, she was a model with a sweater manufacturer. She worked for Pepsi-Cola and Sears and helped run the family business, Maywood Jewelers.
Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Siegfried (Sigi) in 2002, she is survived by two daughters, Elayne Kling of New York City and Sheryl Tedford (Scott) of Northfield, N.H.; and two grandsons, Zak Kerkoulas and Max Tedford.
Donations can be made to the Havenwood Library Fund at Havenwood-Heritage Heights.

Miriam Alk
Miriam Alk, 88, of Amherst, Mass., formerly of Fair Lawn and Passaic, died on Jan. 8.
Born near Bialystock, Poland, she came to the United States in 1927. She was executive secretary to the director of the YM-YWHA of North Jersey for 30 years, editor of the Y’s weekly newspaper The Criterion, and a speechwriter for Y executives. She was a Yiddish translator for newly arrived immigrants and a member of the Y’s Women’s Club and the Fair Lawn Seniors group. She and her husband, Abe, were members of several international folk-dance groups.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Alk Karren (Ron Karren) of Amherst; grandchildren Mitchel Karren, Joshua Karren, and Kati Degen Karren; a great-grandson, Noah Degen Karren; and many nieces and nephews.

Manfred Anson
Manfred Anson, 89, of Bergenfield, formerly of Germany and Australia, died on Jan. 4 in Englewood.
Born in Dinkelsbuhl, Germany, he was a World War II veteran of the Australian Army. He was an importer of Australian merchandise. He had a unique collection of Judaica that is shown in museums around the world and he also designed a Statue of Liberty menorah that has been pictured in many calendars.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judith; a daughter, Deborah Siefken; a son, Joel; a sister, Sigrid Jean Strauss (Fred); two grandchildren, Daniel and Kayla Siefken; a nephew, Larry Strauss; and a niece, Marsha Alter.

Mildred Thal
Mildred Thal, née Hirsch, 96, of Fort Lee, died on Jan. 6.
Born in Germany, she was a homemaker.
Predeceased by her husband, Michael; she is survived by a son, Steven of Conneticut; a sister, Herta Saladis, of Queens; and a grandson, Eric. Arrangements were by Eden Memorial Chapels, Inc., Fort Lee.
Vera Samoilovich
Vera Samoilovich, née Levitman, 88, of North Bergen, died on Jan. 4.
Before immigrating to the United States she was a physician in Russia.
She is survived by her husband, George; a son, Victor (Nadejda); and two grandchildren, Maxim and Allan. Arrangements were by Eden Memorial Chapels, Fort Lee.
Norma Stiskin
Norma Stiskin, 94, of North Bergen, died on Jan. 6 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Passaic.
Born in Union City, before retiring 30 years ago she was a bookkeeper for the Bort Coat Company in Union City for many years. She was a life member of Hadassah and a member of Temple Beth Abraham of North Bergen.
She is survived by her sister Lillian Bernstein of the Bronx; nieces and nephew, Sol and Arlene Solomon of Clifton and Alison Glazer of Wayne; and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Arrangements were by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
Nancy Fein
Nancy Fein, 68, of Teaneck, died on Jan. 5.
Born in Brooklyn, she spent 30 years working for the rights of special education students in the New York school system and 10 years in the Pascack Valley Regional school district.
Predeceased by her husband, Michael; she is survived by a son, Peter (Janet Fein Neely); a daughter, Abigail Fein (Sean Campbell); a sister, Judy Barovick (Barry); and two grandchildren, Meredith and Jude.

Eugene Goldman
Eugene Goldman, 87, of River Vale, formerly of Upper Saddle River, Boynton Beach, Fla., and Teaneck, died on Jan. 6 at home.
Born in Brooklyn, he was raised in Jersey City where his parents operated a small candy store and luncheonette. He was an Army World War II veteran enlisting in 1942, fighting in Europe as a Private First Class in Company A in the 120th Infantry and receiving two Purple Hearts. After the war, he graduated from New York University. In 1954 he met and married his wife, Marjorie, née Grotsky. Before retiring, he was a national sales manager in the apparel industry for Leslie Fay.
Predeceased by his siblings, Nathaniel and Helen, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie (Midge), née Grotsky; a daughter, Carol Berg (William) of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Peter Goldman (Peter Eckert) of New York City; and a granddaughter, Eleanor Berg.
